A senior adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity because the president-elect is not prepared to officially announce the nomination, said Obama believes Clinton would bring instant stature and credibility to U.S. diplomatic relations. Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security, multiple news agencies reported late Wednesday.
If appointed, the Democrat in her second term would head the sprawling federal agency, which is responsible for immigration policy and border security as well as emergency response issues.
